How To Get a Wii: A Lazy Man’s Guide February 11, 2007

Posted by David Kaye in : Games , trackback

nintendo-wii1.jpgLike many people, I’ve been trying to buy a Wii for a couple of months now. If you’re like me, however, the idea of hanging out in Best Buy/Target/EB holds no appeal, and you’re not going pay a premium on eBay either. There are ways to get a Wii with virtually no effort, however. I got mine a few days ago - here’s how.

1. Go to the Wii page on Nowinstock.net and sign up for email/RSS alerts. This will alert you whenever a Wii is available for online purchase. Their alerts are pretty good, and they are free, but for total coverage you’re going to have to spend $2 in the next step.

2. Next, visit iTrackr. iTrackr monitors local inventory availability at places like Best Buy and Target. Don’t bother tracking EB Games/Gamestop locations - they don’t update frequently enough. For certain stores like Circuit City, though, an in-store availability alert also means that their website is going to have stock.

3. Activate wireless alerts at iTrackr. If you’re going to try and get to a location, call ahead and check the alert is accurate. If you’re marginally less lazy than me, you can actually go to a location when you get an alert (but call ahead first to confirm). If not, just use it as an indicator of online availability.

There you go: these 3 easy steps will radically improve your chances of getting a Wii with very little effort. Happy hunting!

Recently one of my friends started an obsession with the actor Nicholas Cage (mostly because their names are both Nicholas - sounds strange but he is strange and that isn’t the point). After asking around the rest of my friends he seems to be a very controversial figure.
What does the forum think? do you love the all action superhero? Or do you hate the droning voice of the man who does nothing but action shooters?

What would you do if the internet crashed for good? Would you get used to life with less communication and less “being connected” or would you be pretty bummed for the rest of your life?

This is assuming it was not fixed. Perhaps some largescale EMP attack or something that crippled it for the next 50+ years or so.
